Welcome New District 5 Councilwoman Naya Young
Naya Young was raised in Tampa and is a graduate of George S. Middleton High School. She earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from Howard University, a Bachelor’s degree from University of South Florida, and an Associate’s degree from Hillsborough Community College, along with a Nonprofit Management Certification from University of Tampa. A longtime community advocate, she has worked across Tampa and Hillsborough County in nonprofit leadership, civic engagement, and public policy, including serving as Executive Director of the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association. In October 2025, she was elected to Tampa City Council representing District 5, where she chairs the Neighborhood and Community Affairs Committee and serves on the Public Safety Coordinating Council and the Tampa Bay Estuary Program board.
